The fight against Osteoporosis now has a new ally.  From now until August 2012 the VPHOP research project (#223865) will develop, validate and deploy the next generation of technology to predict the absolute risk of fracture in patients with low bone mass, thereby enabling clinicians to provide better prognoses and implement more effective treatment strategies (both pharmacological and interventional).

Forthcoming Events:

VPHOP Symposium: Assessing Fracture Risk: The Future for Designing New Therapies

The VPHOP organizing committee is happy to invite you to the Fracture Risk Modeling Symposium in connection of IOF World Congress on Osteoporosis & 10th European Congress on Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis and Osteoarthritis -IOF WCO-ECCEO1O-. Moderators of the symposium will be the VPHOP project coordinator, Marco Viceconti and Rene' Rizzoli, representative of UGE and chair the VPHOP Clinical Committee.

Agenda:

  • The role of technology in the fight against osteoporosis - R. Rizzoli (CH)
  • Clinical prospectives on osteoporosis: Bone and muscle - D. Felsenberg (DE)
  • New technologies to predict the risk of fracture - F. Taddei (IT)
  • Cell and tissue based simulation of osteoporosis and pharmacological treatment - R. Müller (CH)
  • Tissue-level imaging for critical risk assessment - B. van Rietbergen (NL)
